Ira Zarin, a distinguished trial attorney for many years who specializes in
handling substantial personal injury matters has merged his practice in June,
1998 with Javerbaum Wurgaft & Hicks to form Javerbaum Wurgaft Hicks and Zarin.
Mr. Zarin attended New York University where he received his B.A. degree in 1952.
He graduated Fordham Law School in 1955 and was admitted to the New Jersey Bar
in 1956. He has obtained numerous million dollars verdicts and settlements and
has been instrumental in significant developments in New Jersey Tort Law,
serving as trial counsel in Portee v. Jaffee , and as trial and
appellate counsel in many important cases including Peer v. City of Newark,
Anderson v. Somberg , and Brody v. Overlook Hospital. He is
active as a referred trial counsel and recently obtained a $3,000,000.00
recovery in the New York Federal Court, Eastern District on behalf of the
Estate of the co-pilot of Pan-Am Flight #103 in the Lockerbie Disaster and a
$5,800,000.00 medical malpractice jury verdict in the New Jersey Superior Court.
Mr. Zarin is a frequent author on trial technique and has contributed to the AM.
JUR. MODEL TRIAL SERIES and provides continuing monthly commentary for
the MEDICAL LIABILITY ALERT and editorial reviews for the NEW
JERSEY JURY VERDICT REVIEW and various other trial and Jury Verdict
Review Publications throughout the United States.
Mr. Zarin is a member of the Union County, Essex County, New Jersey State and
American Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Association of Trial
Lawyers of America - New Jersey Chapter and the National Institute for Trial
Advocacy and is a Master in the Richard J. Hughes Inns of Court. Mr. Zarin has
been certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey, Board on Trial Attorney
Certification as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney.
