@INTRO = In this premises liability case involving the city of Stamford, the plaintiff was descending a stairway into the train station when she slipped on an accumulation of ice and water and fell. The plaintiff alleged that the city was negligent.

The 61-year-old female plaintiff, an attorney, was descending the stairway to the train station in Stamford, Connecticut on December 8, ________ at approximately 2 p.m. when she slipped on an accumulation of ice and water. As a result of slipping, the plaintiff fell approximately 10 steps to the bottom of the stairway and fractured her wrist.

The plaintiff brought suit against the state alleging that they were negligent in properly maintaining the stairway. The plaintiff alleged that although the stairway was enclosed there were gaps of four to five inches between the walls and ceiling of the stairway enclosure, which permitted precipitation to enter and accumulate on the stairway creating a hazardous and dangerous condition.

The defendant denied the allegations and disputed the nature and extent of the plaintiff’s injuries.

The matter was settled without any admission of liability by the state for the sum of $________.
