The estate of the decedent alleged that the defendant nursing home caused the wrongful death of the elderly decedent when they failed to prevent the decedent from falling, despite the fact that the decedent was high fall risk patient. The defendant denied all allegations of negligence.

On October 11, ________, the female decedent was a resident of the defendant nursing facility. She was found on October 11, at 7:30 am on the bathroom floor with her head resting on the wall. She complained of pain in the sternum, had a lump on the back of her head, and vomited. She was taken to the local emergency room, where a CT scan revealed the decedent has suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage which worsened over a few days, and ultimately caused her death on October 26, ________. The estate alleged that the defendant facility was negligent in failing to hire, utilize, train and retain sufficient staff, failing to prevent the decedent from falling, failing to have in place an adequate fall prevention plan, failing to provide the decedent with proper assistance and supervision. The defendant made a general denial of all allegations of liability and injury.The parties settled their dispute for $________.
