The plaintiff was a man in his early 30s, and was a patron of the defendant’s restaurant when he claimed he slipped and fell on broken glass. The plaintiff alleged that the defendant was negligent in failing to correct the dangerous condition on the premises. The defendant did not answer the complaint, and was placed in default. Accordingly, the case proceeded on damages only.

The plaintiff testified that he was coming off the defendant’s dance floor when he slipped and fell as a result of broken glass on the floor. The plaintiff was diagnosed with a fracture of the right distal fibula due to the fall. He underwent open reduction and internal fixation of the fracture.

The plaintiff testified that he suffers ongoing pain and limitation of motion, and is now precluded from many physical activities, including one of his favorite activities of dancing.The jury awarded the plaintiff $________ in damages. Collection efforts are currently underway.
