$________ COMBINED Civil assault – Three plaintiffs attacked by two defendants in restaurant/bar – Detached retina – Multiple contusions and soft tissue injuries – Defendants in default

Palm Beach County, FL

The plaintiffs were two brothers and their friend who alleged that they were assaulted in a Jupiter restaurant/bar by the two defendants. The defendants were in default, and the case was heard on damages only. The bar/restaurant where the incident occurred settled the plaintiffs’ negligent security claims prior to trial.

The plaintiffs were three males in their 20s at the time in question. They contended that when one of the plaintiff brothers attempted to pay the restaurant/bar bill at 12 or 1 a.m., they were attacked by the defendants (two males of approximately the same age).

The plaintiffs alleged that they were punched, pushed to the floor, beaten, and kicked by the defendants. One plaintiff (the friend) claimed a detached retina as a result of the assault, which is resolved without vision loss. All plaintiffs alleged that they suffered multiple facial contusions and soft tissue injuries. The jury found one of the defendants ________% responsible for the injuries to one plaintiff brother and the friend. The jury found both defendants each 50% responsible for the injuries to the second brother. The plaintiffs were awarded combined damages of $________. The award was comprised of $________ to the first brother, $________ to the second brother, and $________ to the friend. Efforts to satisfy the judgment are currently underway.
