This patent infringement suit involved a prominent lending company as plaintiff. The defendants denied the allegations of infringement and countersued.

The plaintiff Tree.com is owner of LendingTree.com, Tree.Com, Inc., through its subsidiaries, owns various brands and businesses that provide information, tools, advice, products, and services. Its brands include LendingTree, GetSmart, DegreeTree, LendingTreeAutos, DoneRight, ServiceTree, and it is holder of U.S. Patents ________ ("Method and computer network for coordinating a loan over the Internet") and ________ ("Method and computer network for coordinating a loan over the internet").

In September, ________ the plaintiff filed suit in the North Carolina Western District Court, accusing the defendants of infringing United States Patents Zillow, Inc., Nextag, Inc., Quinstreet, Inc., Quinstreet Media, Inc. and Adchemy, Inc. The plaintiff sought recovery of damages for patent infringement. The defendants denied the accusation of infringement, and filed counterclaims for inequitable conduct and antitrust violations. The jury found that defendants did not infringe LendingTree’s United States Patent Nos. ________ and ________ and determined that those patents are invalid. However, the jury found in plaintiff’s favor respecting defendants’ counterclaims.
